Grateful

Hello fellow "slicers" - it is so great to be back!  Though, I'll admit to much more trepidation this time round - not sure I have 31 ideas to write about.  Last year was my first year and I had more than enough things on my mind.  Nevertheless - here we are and I am excited to join all of you again.

To ease my way into this challenge, I will start out with a simple gratitude list - always a good "go to" idea for me:

I am grateful for
• all of you and hopeful of making new friends and receiving challenging, thought-provoking and guiding responses from many of you

• my normally great state of health - Jan and Feb have been brutal health wise in our household and things aren't better yet - hopeful that spring will restore us all to our normal selves

• my amazing children who continue to blow me away with their accomplishments, talents, and knowledge - I have decided that even though the teen years have their own set of problems, I am truly enjoying my kids at this stage of their lives

• my ability to CHOOSE to return to a regular exercise routine (plan on getting back into it right after I post this today) - so many people don't have this kind of choice

• employment - though teaching is not what it used to be for me - I am grateful everyday for a job doing something at which I am somewhat skilled.

• my students this year - especially A. who always keeps me laughing

OK - as promised - off to change into workout clothes and get back into the exercise groove - have 10 lbs. to shed!  Welcome back all - I am grateful to be in your company!

Quote of the day:  And by the way, everything in life is writeable about if you have the outgoing guts                             to do it, and the imagination to improvise.  The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.

  1. I think a gratitude list is a great way to start off the challenge. In fact, I'm going to put this idea in my notebook, so on that day when I don't know what to write, I'll have an idea.

I love that one of the things you are grateful for is your students--especially A. I have a few students like that too, who make my day worthwhile. In fact, that's what I'm writing about tomorrow!

Glad your back. Here's to slicing!

  2. I need to pause and be thankful for G who makes me thankful to teachers who loved my own son and the challenge that he was.

  3. It is so important to cultivate gratitude and your list helps me to review what I am thankful for at this moment! That is a nice reflection for the end of the week.

  4. I am grateful for the inspiration my fellow slicers share through their writing. I am happy that you will continue with your tradition of finishing a slice with a quote. Today's quote is perfect for the start of the challenge.
