Waiting

I have a new car.
I love my new car.
It is big.
It is comfortable.
It has lots of fun buttons.
It has seat warmers.
It EATS gas - oh well !
It is a good thing I like my new car. . .
because ~
I have a daughter.
She runs track.
She also dances.
She has practice after school.
Everyday !
She has meets.
She has recitals.
I have a son.
He runs track.
He also plays baseball.
He has practice after school.
Everyday !
He has meets.
He has games.
We live in New Mexico.
It is March.
In March it is very windy.
It is also very cold.
Everyday !
I will spend a lot of time in my warm, new car.
WAITING !
Maybe . . .  I can write?

  1. Now that's an easy poem to relate to.
I have a new car- Mazda 3. warm seats, eats more gas than my old Prius but I love it.
No kids but my partner can mess up the front with his shoes...
    I love it.
    Enjoy!

  2. Yay! I'm so happy to hear that you like your new car - my husband and I are in the market for a new car and I am so terrified that I won't like it. What a nice quiet place to write though - I wish I had time to sit in my car and read or write - sounds nice.

  3. Love, love, love seat warmers! Mine usually stay on until May. There's something comforting about a warm backside. Sounds like lots of activities and waiting. Don't you love that new car smell?

  4. Sounds like a busy schedule, but you have your car!!! I think it's fun to write in free verse and just let it roll off.

  5. Nice poem describing what could be a frustrating schedule...but instead...you have a new car that makes it all better. Love New Mexico. I go there every summer.

  6. Mom taxi. If I'm not at school, I'm probably driving one of my kids to a dance class or play rehearsal.
And I will never go back to a car without a seat warmer or remote starter.

  7. I loved this post! My mom can definitely relate. My favorite part was your quote of the day...I didn't see the last part of it at first!

  8. I love your reason for loving your new car--it's so much about your kids and waiting and comfort.
