Signs of Spring - a photo essay

Less actual writing - more photos today.  This is spring in Albuquerque - the blooms on the trees, the flowers opening up - it all lasts just a minute.  I long for the summer, but these few weeks when the city is splashed with pinks and whites, fuchsias and yellows - are magical to me.  It literally takes my breath away - I have been known to pull the car over just to gaze at a forsythia plant or a garden of tulips.  I hope all of you are enjoying the signs of spring in your area.

Quote for the day:   It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it,
you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly
makes your heart ache, you want it so!              ~Mark Twain

  1. I can't wait! We had one glorious day, but today I had to drag my coat out again. I planted 75 new tulip bulbs last Fall and am so ready to see them bloom!

  2. Thank you for sharing the pictures. We are still weeks away from flowers and green but it's warmer than usual and things are budding. Seeing these pictures made me shiver a little with excitement for what is to come.

  3. I am patiently waiting for my signs of Spring to appear. I'll be enjoying those white and pink cherry/plum blooms soon. Thank you for sharing such stunning pictures. I'm known to stop and enjoy them too. Take a big whiff of that fragrant smell for me.

  5. thank you - enjoy it I did. Mark Twain is also one of more favourite authors to quote yet interestingly I have never read one of his books. There are a number on my bedside table. Must bump them up the pile.

  7. Your pictures are beautiful! I also enjoyed the Mark Twain quote...I do find myself wanting something at this time of year. I want the slower, more peaceful pace and feel of summer days. Or, maybe it's the anticipation that I enjoy? Thanks for sharing.

  9. This post appeals on a number of levels. I always love the link between the visual image and the words such images evoke. I also love spring, especially in the U S where it arrives so dramatically. Thank you for the reminder. I love the vibrancy of the colors you captured.

  10. What a beautiful presentation of spring! I love the quote too. In western New York we are several weeks away from the blooming that your area is experiencing, but we are having freakishly warm days. Happy Spring! ~Theresa
