A Conversation

She called

I came

She cried

I hugged

She talked

I listened

She confessed

I squeezed

She shared

I supported

She confided

I nodded

She listened

I advised

She was silent

I was silent

She explained

I understood

She was brave

I was proud

I joked

She laughed

She smiled

I smiled

I left

I cried

Quote of the day:  Truth is tough.  It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch, nay, you may kick it all about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening.                                                     ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

  1. That's what friends do. Glad you were there to support and comfort.

  2. The back and forth bouncing of the verbs portrays well the emotions of a complicated situation. I wish it would have ended with a laugh.

  3. What a beautiful way to capture a difficult time. I also love the "bouncing of the verbs," but especially the pause and turning point I felt in the middle when the two of you were silent.

  6. The give and take of relationships and the importance of trust. I like how you paired the poem and quote. Perfect. Sounds like you both deserve lots of hugs!
