Ski Sunday

It's late so this will have to be a quick slice.
Today was skiing.
Up early, breakfast burritos on the go, quick hour long drive north to Santa Fe.  All was going well until we headed up the mountain.  It had snowed the previous night so the roads were snowy and icy.  Cars were slip sliding everywhere.  Massive traffic back up.
Finally, we hit the ski area only to find all the rest of humanity there.  Seriously.  I have never seen so many people.
Did not get on a lift until 11:00, rather than 9:00.  But - the sun was out, the snow was a soft powder, the temp was in the low 50s.  You just had to be adept enough to dodge all the other skiers.
Stopped for lunch up on the mountain but half of all of humanity was also there so it was not the peaceful or relaxed outdoor lunch we usually enjoy.
Got several more runs in in the afternoon.  Discovered that Texas and perhaps Oklahoma were on Spring Break - hence the influx of humans.
So..... it wasn't as relaxed a day as usual - but....
the sun was out, the snow was a soft powder and the temp was in the low 50s.
Finally loaded up to go home.  Made our usual pit stop at Starbucks - then back on the highway for a leisurely drive back south.  Called ahead to pick up a spaghetti dinner (hooray - I feared it was to be leftovers).
All in all - a great winter Sunday.
And now..... facing the start of testing week.....

Quote of the day:  Skiing combines outdoor fun with knocking down trees with your face.
