This was true of yesterday's entry in my paper:
Sagittarius: Animals puff up when they are threatened. Fur or
feathers stand on end; fish take in more air to appear
bigger; people do the same thing. When you see
this reaction, ask: What is this person afraid of?
Intellectually I knew this - but it was a helpful reminder that anger in all its various nasty forms is just masking a deeper fear and that I should be more concerned about the fear and its cause than the anger that hurts my feelings or elicits my own anger in response.
If individuals, and states and countries and governments could focus more on understanding and addressing our fears, there might be peace.

I am a Sagittarius myself. We are passionate people who often place our foot in our mouths. Not becasue we work towards being rude, but sometimes it's just a little obvious as to what needs to be done!
ReplyDeleteThis was really thought-provoking. Love the idea of changing your perspective and considering the angry person as being afraid. Also, when I am angry, consider what might be making ME afraid. I love the song "Brave" because it reminds me to "say what you want to say and let the words pour out..."

ReplyDeleteJulie - I really enjoyed this post as well. I love reading my horoscopes and occasionally find a kernel of truth in them as well. Your comment about states, countries and governments becoming more understanding struck a chord as well. How true.
